A mysterious special order from the German army command sends a troop of mountain troops on a risky mission that resembles a suicide mission. Soldiers Konrad Hartmann and Walter Kemper are transferred to Finland to take part in the massive German offensive against the Soviet Union. But the two friends soon realize that their true mission lies far beyond ordinary warfare.
